Entrance Policy

 

The majority of potential participants of STEPS Employment gain access to our programme after being determined to be eligible by a Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) conducted by a JCA Provider.
 

 

Exit Policy

 

Circumstances may arise that necessitate a Participant exiting the STEPS Employment programme.

 

You may decide you no longer want to remain on the STEPS programme. Eligibility to exit the programme will depend on your participation requirements


The reasons you may choose to exit may include:

  • you no longer require assistance from the STEPS Programme;
  • you find employment independently and no longer require assistance,
  • you become an independent worker after 6 months and do not require support;
  • you become an independent worker after 6 months and require intermittent support only;
  • you do not return from an Allowable Break within 18 months of the start of an Allowable Break;
  • if you are a Non-Activity Tested participant and no longer wish to remain on the Programme;
  • you are unable to continue in employment because of medical reasons or reasons related to your disability;
  • you can no longer participate in the Programme from an Outlet because you have moved away from the area.
 
Procedure: You must inform your STEPS Consultant that you would like to leave the STEPS programme. Your consultant will advise if your participation requirements will allow you to exit.
 

STEPS will also be responsible for exiting participants if:

  • there are irreconcilable differences between the Participant and STEPS
  • DEEWR instructs STEPS to exit the participant
  • you have displayed unacceptable behaviours Abuse and Neglect Policy page
  • for Participants on the Capped Programme only: STEPS does not accept the payment level determined by DEEWR that would allow appropriate support and assistance to be provided.
   
Procedure: STEPS Consultant will contact you and a meeting will be arranged to explain the reasons for the end of the programme.
