Privacy Policy

 

 

STEPS Disability Qld Inc acknowledges its responsibilities concerning the collection, disclosure and use of information with regard to the National Privacy Principles under the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1998.

Upon commencement of employment, STEPS employees are provided with information regarding the 11 Privacy Principles contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and are required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement..

  • Only information that is necessary and directly relates to the service provided by STEPS will be collected from you or others who are able to provide such information.
  • This information may include:
  • details of your disability
  • your employment history and goals
  • employment assistance you may require (eg. Writing letters, approaching employers, on-the-job training)
  • your abilities, skills and knowledge in relation to employment
  • file notes on the service provided by STEPS
  • The information obtained from you is only available to staff working with you.
  • Information is maintained in:
  • electronic form and stored in a secure database
  • in hardcopy and stored in locked cabinets in secured offices
  • You may apply in writing for access to your information to ensure that your record is accurate and relates to the purpose for which the information was collected.

 

Obtaining or Releasing Information

STEPS staff will always be sensitive when discussing your personal details with other staff, employers, STEPS board members, outside agencies or others.

 

STEPS will need your permission to contact or obtain relevant information from other people, which may include members of your family, past employers, medical professionals or other agencies.

 

STEPS would like you to be aware DEEWR have the right, as per contractual agreement, to contact any employer to verify the details of participants who are working, the number of hours the participant is working and the hourly pay rate participant is receiving.
