As a worker in this area you will work with people with disabilities in a number of settings. These include work in the community and/or residential facilities. You will be under direct or regular supervision and will work within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. You would be expected to provide support to a client, which could relate to the provision of an individual’s personal care and/or other activities of living. You would report directly to a supervisor and would not be responsible for other workers. |

As a worker in this occupational group, you will work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes. You will apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation. You would report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies. As a worker in this group, you may work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers. |
